BURIAL BENEFITS:
Documents Needed:
- Copy of the Veteran’s Death Certificate (Make sure it has one of the service-connected conditions listed as a contributory cause of death)
- Certified Copy of DD-214 or
- DischargeCopy of Marriage Certificate
A monthly VA benefit based on a Veteran’s service-connected death
Death is proven to be a result of or related to service; service connection does NOT have to be established prior to death of Veteran
If a service-connected condition is the Principal or Contributory cause of death, then D.I.C. may be established.
Make sure that one of service-connected disease is listed on the death certificate
Special Monthly Rates
DIC Rate may be increased if the spouse is:
- A patient in a nursing home or
- In need of regular Aid and Attendance or
- The DIC RATE may also be increased if the spouse is Permanently housebound
VA burial Benefit program is intended to “assist” the survivors of deceased eligible Veterans in meeting the funeral and burial cost associated with the Veteran’s Death
(The Funeral Home will arrange the Pickup of the Burial Flag. Our office will provide you with a Flag Case & Funeral Home will help arrange Funeral Honors)
